Happy Birthday to ME!

Well I am another year older - 33 to be exact and it was a pretty good day.  Here is the basic rundown with a super fun surprise at the end of the day for me!

First off I have such great friends and they take good care of me down here.  I went shopping with Katie and Tonya watched my kids.  It is amazing how much I can get done (and spend) when I am out by myself:)

I got home and had some beautiful flowers delivered by a "very friendly" florist... Thanks Mom and Dad!  Eric brought flowers home after work too!  My house smells like flowers - I am so spoiled!

Eric had asked me out on a date flowers and all.  He planned it all even down to the babysitter - Thanks Emily and Jordan!  We dropped the kids off and away we went.  Eric said we had a reservation so I was pretty impressed.  We got on the freeway and he passed all of The Woodlands exits - which really where else do we need to go to eat out.  I was intrigued and the further away we got the more intrigued I became.  We ended up about 40 minutes from our house and he pretended to get a little lost at a small airport down here..... well he was most definitelybnot lost and guess what we got to do for my birthday....

Hint #1 - yep that is our house!

Hint #2 about 800 ft above sea level.....

Any guesses?

This man loves to surprise me and I love it!  We went up in a helicopter!

I have to admit my first thought when I saw it was - oh crap I didn't hug and kiss my kids enough before I left:)  It is always a little scary to do something a little dangerous with kids at home.   I soon got really excited because I have always thought it would be super cool to go up in a helicopter. It was!  We got to go fly over the woodlands, see our house, a couple of golf courses that Eric loves and the super secret new Exxon campus that is just 10 minutes from our house!    I will not show pictures of said super secret campus in fear of Eric's job :)   Towards the end Eric and I both got just a little motion sick - it is such a crazy feeling to feel like you are floating in the air.

We had such a great time and it was so much fun to have a date with Eric!  When we went to pick up our kids at Emily's house, there was another surprise a cake and a bunch of my friends!  We are so grateful for the friends here in Texas  - they truly make it a great place to live.

Thanks Eric for a great birthday and thanks family and friends for birthday wishes!

A little Galveston trip...

Eric's dad had a conference down here in Galveston so we met up with Dave and Claudia for a little mini vacation.  Minus the sleeping in a hotel part (our kids really don't sleep well in hotels) we had a great time.

We went to the aquarium, Cannon jumped in a mud puddle, we went swimming in the hotel pool and on our way home had some tasty fajita's at Pappasito's.

Thanks for a great trip!

He touched the star fish - no fear!

A little more hesitant

Watching the penguins swim

Our silly little boys!

They were planting and watering some very large palm trees and Cannon decided he wanted to go swimming!  He was pretty unhappy.

and very muddy:)

Ahh technology.... Claudia had an iphone and these boys were hooked!

Thanks for a fun trip!

A few surprises

So a couple of weeks ago I was talking to my mom and suggested she come and visit during spring break!  She decided to come and I was so excited.  When I picked her up at the airport, she had a few tagalongs:)  She brought Jamie and Presley Ann(the newest member of our family) and Katie and Paxton, my 1 yr old nephew.  I was so shocked and excited to see these little tagalongs and so thankful to see them all.  Thank goodness for FOMO (fear of missing out).

So we did lots of fun things and I am stealing pics from my moms blog because I didn't take any pictures.  We had so much fun and I miss them all so much already.  Time for you all to move here:) right mom?!?

Thanks girls for coming and thank your families and babysitters for helping with your kids at home so we could have a fun filled week!

The Stowaways! What a great surprise.

We did some major damage at Sam Moon, the outlets and of course Marshalls:)

We made fudge and it WORKED!  Jamie and I had tried a couple of years ago when she was here and it turned into a
great inedible disaster so we were super excited to eat yummy fudge this time.

We went out to eat and it was always an adventure with 4 adults and 4 kids!  Love Chuy's

We made two projects, Easter egg candlesticks and some cute headbands.

Happy Birthday Cannon!

I can't believe that Cannon is 2 already.  It seems like just yesterday we were on our way to Oregon to meet him and bring him home.  What a joy this little boy is in our home.

A few things about Cannon at 2

Gotta love the drool! Hopefully these molars will come in soon!

He is such a talker!  It is so fun to have somewhat meaningful conversations with him(he is still two).  He usually knows exactly what he wants and will let me know what that is.  He now asks people "what's up" and sometimes adds a "dude".

He loves to sing songs and his lastest switches between "follow the Prophet", "I am a Child of God", or an Easter bunny hopping song that my parents have at their house that for some reason he remembers from Christmas.  He also sings the ABC's and will pick up on songs on the radio and start singing the key phrases.  I laughed so hard the other day when he started singing "heart beat again" a line from one of my favorite songs.

Along with his musical side this kid loves to boogie:)  He dances to almost any song with his current favorite move the "squat" and the bum shake.  It is pretty cute.

He is pretty content and happy most of the time and will cuddle and snuggle with me almost always.  I love it!  He is a pretty cautious.  One thing I think is pretty funny are stairs.  He usually wants me to carry him down the stairs but when I go down a couple of stairs to pick him up, he will barely get within a foot of the top of the stair even if I am holding his hand.   You would think he has fallen from them but he is just really cautious of heights.

He has just within the last month or so been able to climb up on things like the couch, kitchen chairs and subsequently the table there just seems to be so much mass that it is hard to lift up:)
He loves, Cars, trains, Buzz Lightyear and pretty much anything Matthew loves.  Which makes it pretty easy as long as we have two similar items to play with:)

Cannon is so easy to put down at night and for naps (knock on wood).  We literally take him into his room, sing a song, say a prayer, lay him down in his crib and say "love you good night", and that is it.  Thank goodness for one child who likes to sleep:)

This year for his party we decided to invite a few friends over for a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party.  We have always been in Utah for both of our boys birthdays, so it was so much fun to spend his birthday with our Texas family.  When they sang happy birthday to him I realized how lucky we are to have such good friends here and how thankful we are for them all.

We are so grateful for this little boy in our home and for his amazing personality that comes out more and more each day.  We love you buddy!
